Now under construction, NAIT’s Advanced Skills Centre (ASC) is set to transform skilled trades education in Alberta.

What started as a mere concept with NAIT's acquisition of nearly 45 acres of surrounding land from the City of Edmonton in 2019 is now approaching reality. Located on Main Campus, the 625,000-square-foot facility will enable apprentices and students from 29 programs to learn alongside one another in a hands-on, collaborative space that reflects the reality of the modern work site.

The ASC will also boost NAIT’s teaching capacity in the trades and technologies by 5,500 students annually, making it essential to closing a widening skills gap as some 700,000 trades professionals eye retirement by 2028. Opening in fall 2030, it will solidify the polytechnic’s status as Alberta's largest and leading provider of skilled trades education.

Until then, join us as we track the progress of the project, from concept to construction to completion, with the latest entry being a major construction milestone reached on Sept. 30.

Check back often – we'll add to the timeline as the story, and NAIT, continues to grow and evolve.
