“Earning a credential at NAIT is no small feat”
It’s not a stretch to call NAIT’s Convocation a magical time. There’s a trick to it, after all. A few hundred people walk into a room as students (graduands, if you want to get technical), and – with a shake of the hands of Board of Governors chair Yasmin Jivraj and president Laura Jo Gunter – walk out as graduates.
(Queue awe and applause.)
OK, there’s more to it than that. As Gunter told attendees at the 2025 ceremonies held June 23-25, “Earning a credential at NAIT is no small feat. It takes commitment, creativity and perseverance – all the qualities you have shown throughout your journey here.”
That is, it’s a lot of hard work, and Convocation is meant to recognize that effort as much as it is to celebrate the accomplishment.
Still, there’s something about the experience of walking across that stage that one can’t quite put a finger on. Maybe it’s the essence of the transformation, the ineffable moment between before and after – something that transpires in an instant yet stays with you always. Not many things in life are more magical than that.
Here’s a look at those moments enjoyed by the Class of 2025, gathered at the Edmonton Convention Centre.
