Great amenities and a focus on wellness put NAIT on list for 6th year
For the sixth year in a row, NAIT has been recognized as an exceptional place to work.
The polytechnic is included on a list of Alberta’s Top Employers, an annual competition that recognizes the province’s 70 best workplaces. NAIT has made the list every year since 2012.
“We provide a work experience where our people are set up to thrive,” says Clayton Davis, executive director of human resources. “Our professional development opportunities are exceptional, and we are proud to offer a welcoming, inclusive environment for all.”
The annual competition determines its list by judging employers on a range of workplace features including training and skills development, health and family-friendly benefits, and employee engagement and performance.
This year, the judges said NAIT stood out for a number of reasons including onsite amenities for employees including a quiet room for meditation and religious observance, as well as fitness facilities. NAIT was also highlighted for encouraging employees to lead healthy, active lives through regular wellness programs and health and wellness spending accounts.
Continuing to find meaningful ways to support staff well-being is a priority, says Dr. Glenn Feltham, president and CEO of NAIT.
“We focus on creating balance between work and life and provide a variety of options and supports to help our staff manage their time and responsibilities,” he says.
NAIT was also recognized for its commitment to mental health in the workplace in 2016 as the winner in the Best Overall category in Alberta Venture’s Alberta’s Best Workplaces competition.
