NAIT's focus on health, well-being and diversity earns province-wide accolades
NAIT has been named a top Alberta employer for the seventh year in a row.
The award recognizes the polytechnic’s promotion of employee health and well-being, and its celebration of diversity and inclusion among staff and students.
“In short, we have amazing people who do amazing things, and have done them consistently for many years. We’re good at this,” says Clayton Davis, executive director of human resources at NAIT.
Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes 70 employers who offer exceptional places to work. The workplaces aren’t ranked in any particular order. NAIT has been named a top employer every year since 2012.
This year, the judges cited NAIT’s flexible work options, its Pride Week activities and its top-up of maternity leave payments for staff as reasons for receiving the award.
Davis says staff demonstrate their commitment to NAIT every day. “There’s people all over NAIT going above and beyond,” he adds. “Winning an award like this speaks to the quality of our people and their dedication to students.”
NAIT will continue to increase its initiatives around diversity and inclusion, explore new flexible work options and add learning opportunities for employees, he says.
“It’s about everything from the environment we work in to the benefits and programs and professional development that we offer. We’re constantly changing that to be relevant and responsive to what staff want.”
